Napoleon XIV - They're Coming To Take Me Away Ha Haaa! (1966)

Sugar Free Popsicles

I buy sugar free popsicles, mostly with Mrs. Billingsley in mind.  She thinks they're great.  That seemed OK.  Why does she need to be sugar free?  Because I noticed that when she eats sugar, or more carbs of any sort than she tolerates, she has severe problems, like falling, hallucinations, etc.  If she doesn't eat too many carbs, she is much more mentally and physically functional.

I saw sugar free popsicles at Walmart.  That would probably work.  Soon she was addicted and asking for them all the time.

Last night I checked my blood glucose and it was 100.  This wasn't fasting, just a check to determine my before and after eating a popsicle.   An hour later I retested my glucose.  Now is was 125.  Whaaaat!!!!????  What was in these popsicles?

The popsicles say they are sugar free, but they contain large amounts of maltodrextin, the third highest ingredient after water and glycerine. This is a carb.

What are the maltodextrine facts?   The glycemic index is actually higher than table sugar.    Supposedly the blood sugar effect can vary with individuals.   It's going to be a greater reaction than to sugar.  So that's what you want if a glucose spike could be dangerous.  Not.

First thing this morning Mom wanted a popsicle.  I told her that before she eats another popsicle she will be having her blood glucose checked.  Not with a needle???  Yes.  And then about an hour after the popsicle.  Oh no!!!

I first became aware that something was going on with her blood glucose about three years ago.  I tested her glucose, and it was OK for mid day, around 95.  Then she ate a banana, and about an hour later I tested again.  It was 200.  I have never gotten a reading of over 173 on myself, even after eating pecan pie for dinner.  Soon Mother was on the keto diet.   And she improved a lot in health.

Calling these things sugar free is deceptive.

Skin Cancer: The Types, Causes, Prevention & Treatments

No More Twinkles

What are twinkles? one may ask.   Oh, I'm pretty sure you know.  Well, I speak of disruptions of sleep at night.  Find the source.

The source is the diet.  I've found the perfect diet.  Sardines.  I wake up at night.  Sometimes toss and turn.

Then I went on the sardine diet.  At first I just had sardines for breakfast.  They are anti inflammatory and have nearly eliminated joint pain.  That's pretty good for rheumatoid arthritis.  So, I was careful to include sardines when I realized that.

The last few days it's been a total sardine fest.  Well, OK.  Sardines and pickled jalapeƱo slices to enhance the taste.  And maybe a sugar free popsicle.  No maybe.  Popsicles aren't optional.

So, no more "including."  Sardines is what I started living on.  I began sleeping through the night, even in a thunderstorm.   There are no twinkles of any sort.

Oh, another factoid.  I have had fasting glucose in the morning of about 104 for a long time.  That has gone down to the 90s.  Then this morning it was 56.  Maybe a little low, but I felt well.  Probably better than 104.  Besides that, if it went up from 104 it would soon be diabetic.
